I just wanted to take this moment to thank all of you who supported my marathon fundraiser for Juan Quintero and his son, John Paul. I haven’t had a chance to update the website with the new numbers and “support crew” names but, as of today, we have raised $13,000! Your generous response was overwhelming and beyond anything I could have imagined. Perhaps even more important than the financial support, words can not express the strength and inspiration you provided Juan and his family from knowing that they are not alone and that all of you, many complete strangers, are behind them. I am forever grateful to each of you. You have done a beautiful thing.

Yesterday, I lived up to my end of the bargain and completed the LA Marathon. Although the first half of my run went great, the second half, uh, not so much. Just one of those days, I guess. (I knew I was in trouble when the paletero passed me.) But, thanks to your “pressure”, I finished! And, as bad as I was feeling about my performance, all those feelings immediately disappeared when, after my run, I dropped by to see Juan and his family at a seperate fundraiser and received a hero’s welcome, as if I won the darn thing. Still, from here on out, the only thing I’m running is a bake sale! J

Again, thank you for all your support. I hope to have the www.all4juan.org website updated soon with the new names and number. For all you masochists out there, I hope to also be posting a short video of my marathon experience. Finally, I want to give a very special thank you to Eddie Lara and Matt Montanez for putting the website together, and to the best crew in the world, Denise and Mario, for coming out to the marathon and keeping me moving forward.
